My Photoshoot With Quar Brown: Photographer and Director Behind QB Productions

Some photoshoots feel like work.

This one felt like we were playing music, trying different ideas, laughing between shots, and somehow creating an entire collection of photos that I genuinely loved.

I recently had the opportunity to work with Quar Brown, also known as Quar “QB” Brown, for a creative photoshoot. Quar is a photographer, film director, music video director, author, and visual storyteller behind QB Productions.

Going into the shoot, I obviously wanted great photos.

What I did not expect was how comfortable the entire experience would feel.

There was no awkward silence. I was not left standing in front of the camera thinking, Okay… what am I supposed to do with my hands now? Quar helped guide me through poses, gave me useful direction, and created an atmosphere where I could relax and be myself.

That is what made the photos work.

They did not just look good.

Why I Wanted to Work With a Creative Photographer

As Jeremy Melodious, creativity is a huge part of how I express myself.

I create through dance, music, fashion, videos, writing, and whatever other form feels right in the moment. Sometimes I want to be funny. Sometimes I want to look editorial. Sometimes I simply want to capture a version of myself that feels confident and present.

That is why photography matters to me.

A great photo can communicate an entire mood before someone reads a caption or knows the story behind it.

It can feel bold.

It can feel soft.

It can feel playful, mysterious, expressive, or completely unserious.

We Were Playing Music and Just Vibing

One of my favorite parts of the photoshoot was how relaxed the energy felt.

We had music playing while Quar took the photos. We were talking, laughing, testing different poses, and letting things happen naturally.

It did not feel like I suddenly had to become a serious professional model the second the camera came out.

I could move.

I could react to the music.

I could try something, laugh if it looked ridiculous, and then move into another pose without feeling embarrassed.

That freedom helped me stop overthinking.

And anyone who has ever been photographed knows how quickly overthinking can ruin a pose. The second you start analyzing every part of your body, your shoulders tense up, your face changes, and suddenly you are wondering whether you have ever stood normally in your entire life.

With Quar, I did not feel trapped inside my head.

The music gave the shoot a rhythm, and Quar knew how to capture the moments when I looked the most natural.

Quar Helped Me Pose Without Making It Feel Forced

Quar gave me direction throughout the photoshoot, which I really appreciated.

He helped me figure out:

• How to position my body

• What to do with my hands

• When to turn toward or away from the camera

• How to shift between poses

• When a more natural movement would work better

• How to create different moods within the same shoot

There is a major difference between a photographer helping you look your best and someone forcing you into a pose that does not feel like you.

I never felt like I was being judged for not immediately knowing what to do.

I Did Not Feel Awkward at All

This was my first time working with Quar, but I felt comfortable surprisingly quickly.

He was chill, respectful, professional, and genuinely interested in creating something strong.

I never felt rushed.

I never felt like I was wasting his time if I needed more direction.

I never felt like I had to prove that I deserved to be in front of the camera.

Instead, the shoot felt collaborative.

We were both contributing to the final result. I brought my personality, clothing, movement, and creative ideas. Quar brought his camera work, visual experience, direction, and ability to recognize which moments were worth capturing.

That collaboration is what made the experience feel so natural.

Feeling Safe Made the Photos Better

Feeling comfortable around a photographer is not a small detail.

It affects everything.

When someone is photographing you, you are trusting them with your image, your body language, and the way you may eventually be presented online or through a creative project.

Quar made me feel respected throughout the shoot.

He did not pressure me into anything that made me uncomfortable. He did not criticize me when I needed help with a pose. He gave me direction without making me feel self-conscious.

Because I felt safe, I could relax.

Because I could relax, I became more expressive.

And because I became more expressive, the photos looked more like me.

That is something I genuinely value.

The final images felt elevated and professional, but I could still recognize myself inside them. They did not look like I was trying to become somebody else for the camera.

The photographs came out sharp, clean, detailed, and polished. The camera captured the textures in my clothes, smaller facial expressions, and the overall mood of the shoot beautifully.
